Bugs Bunny is inside of a castle that is crazy. Maybe it's wearing a straight jacket.

Hmmm...
待办:
Are there any more differences between the two versions?

Unused Graphics

Famicom Disk System Leftovers

Two title screen graphics that were used in the game's Famicom Disk System iteration, Roger Rabbit. Not used here for quite obvious reasons.

Unused Object

TheBugsBunnyCrazyCastleNES box.png

A steel box object that doesn't appear to be used in any level in either variation of the game.

Title Screen Bits

Title graphic bits left over from the prototype, when the game was called the Bugs Bunny Fun House. The upper-right tile corner isn't even used in the prototype.

Ending Graphics

An unknown bit in the ending graphic bank, probably a placeholder.

Regional Differences

The game was originally released in Japan as Roger Rabbit. Due to Capcom holding the rights to make Disney video games on Nintendo systems in the US at the time, coupled with the fact that a different game based on Who Framed Roger Rabbit had been made by Rare for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Kemco released the game in the US as The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, with the following changes:

Gameplay Differences

  • The enemies are all slightly faster in Roger Rabbit. This makes the game much harder in the later levels.

Title Screen

The title screen graphics were changed:

The music was also replaced with a unique title song; Roger Rabbit simply uses the theme from the "house" type levels:

Japan International

Also in the Japanese version, besides "Please Set Side B" being shown, if the disk is set on Side B it changes to "Now Loading", then fades to a separate "NOW LOADING" screen. This is (obviously) not the case in the international version.

Roger Rabbit ending cutscene.png
Before the final screen is shown, a scene where Roger activates a switch and lowers Jessica down is shown. This sequence was cut in Crazy Castle but the tile bank for the "The End" scene still contains all the relevant background tiles for the cutscene.
